About This Place

Nestled in the enchanting mountain village of San Sebastian del Oeste, Cafetalera La Quinta Mary offers a truly immersive experience for coffee lovers and curious travelers alike. This family-run, organic coffee plantation has been a cherished landmark since the 1930s, lovingly maintained by the Sanchez family through generations. Visitors here don’t just buy coffee—they witness its entire journey, walking among vibrant coffee plants shaded by towering grapefruit and orange trees, soaking in the rich scent of fresh coffee cherries and roasting beans.

Far from the usual coffee stop, the finca blends history, nature, and craftsmanship effortlessly. As Kamila recounts, it’s a rare joy to see coffee beans growing in their natural orchard setting, a sight that beautifully illustrates the heritage of one of Mexico’s famed Pueblos Mágicos. Michael Stemmeler highlights how the estate serves as a captivating excursion destination, where guests can connect with the traditional methods of coffee cultivation and roasting that have been preserved meticulously over the decades.

The plantation’s open-air roasting process adds a sensory dimension to the visit—the deep, warm aroma of roasting beans fills the air and invites visitors to savor freshly ground coffee right on the spot. Shawn Hammons beautifully captures this atmosphere, noting that the smells linger enticingly and that each cup of coffee brewed here is a memorable, delicious experience. Parrots and other tree fruits add a touch of vibrant life, making your stroll through the plantation a truly immersive nature encounter.

What makes Cafetalera La Quinta Mary exceptionally special is its commitment to quality and family values, echoed by enthusiastic guests who rave about the fresh coffee and homemade treats. One customer delighted in the unique candies and chili chips offered on-site, combining local flavors with a personal, heartfelt service that keeps visitors coming back. Jim Sutton’s account paints the plantation as an educational treasure trove, where tasting sessions, artisan pottery, and handcrafted coffee cups complete the enriching experience.

If you’re searching for an authentic connection to Mexican coffee culture—where tradition, flavor, and community intertwine—Cafetalera La Quinta Mary offers an unforgettable journey. Whether you're a seasoned coffee aficionado or a curious traveler, the warmth of the Sanchez family and the promise of a fresh, fragrant cup make this destination a must-visit gem tucked away in the heart of Jalisco.

An organic coffee plantation in the mountain village San Sebastian del Oeste is definitely one of Mexico’s Pueblos Mágicos! For the first time in my life I saw coffee beans growing in an orchard full of coffee trees, shaded by taller trees bearing grapefruit and oranges. The plantation was established in the 1930’s by the Sanchez family and they are still at it.

A small, family run coffee plantation and facility. You can walk among the coffee plants and there are also lemon trees and other tree fruits, and parrots . Everything is done right there and the place smells amazing....and i had a great cup of coffee this morning

You probably drink it regularly but have only an inkling of how its's made. The tour of this organic, multi-generational plantation was very interesting, from seeing the beans grown, the open air roasting and grinding. A little sampling and some beans and ground coffee for sale. Also some local pottery for sale including some very cool coffee cups.

My husband and i have been to this coffee shop twice, we loved it, we visited their garden, saw the beautiful bird. We purchased their roasted coffee and candy, we would definitely return and highly recommend visiting.

I came here on a tour with my roommates. They grow fruit trees around their coffee plants, and the trees will fruit, ripen, and fall, becoming a natural fertilizer for the coffee plants. I didn't buy any beans but my roommates did. We had a cup when we got back to Canada and wow did I ever regret not buying any! Their coffee beans are so good! So I'm coming back this winter to buy some for myself :)
